 FAQs
| How long has Combat Sports been in business and how does Ballistik Hockey fit into the picture?
Combat Sports specializes in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of composite baseball bats and composite hockey sticks.
Rich in composite sporting goods history, Combat’s engineers has been supplying hockey sticks to brand name companies since 1994, when they developed the first commercially successful composite hockey stick. They proudly supplied over 2 million units to a wide range of well known companies selling under top brand names and in 2002 they decided to make their own sticks under the brand Ballistik Hockey.
Combat's engineers designed their first commercially successful composite baseball bat in 1998, and released the first all-composite bat in 2002. Similar to the hockey stick company, they manufactured bats for other well known brands for years and eventually branded their own identity Combat.
In 2008, Combat purchased Ballistik Hockey, where we could focus our efforts and combine both brands into Combat Sports.
As a grassroots company, our focus is on the player and our plan is simple: to strengthen the softball/baseball and hockey communities with unparalleled technology. We strive to understand what players need and want. Our staff consists of elite level players, past greats, and weekend warriors. Not only is our staff regarded as composite design, manufacturing, and engineering experts, but we are also die hard fans and players of the games.

| Why should I buy composite stick over wood?
Just as graphite composite materials have become the “defacto” performance standard in the tennis and golfing industry, composites are rapidly becoming the standard in the hockey stick world and are pushing aside the old wood and aluminum products. Composite sticks, shafts and blades offer many performance advantages to hockey players of all skills and ages when compared to wood or aluminum. In fact, the vast majority of NHL players have made the switch to composite sticks to improve their performance for the following reasons:
* Improved Shooting Performance and Consistency
* Consistency in the product throughout it’s life
* Lighter and More Consistent Weight
* Durability
Combat Hockey composite sticks make excellent economic sense over the long run while providing superior performance to all levels and types of players. Combat Hockey sticks and shafts have proven to be the most durable on the market.

| How do I pick the right stick?
Selecting the right stick is critical to comfort and improved performance.
Factors to consider when selecting the right hockey stick
Shaft Stiffness*
Comp Super Flex (80) Recreational and Competitive finesse players
Mid Flex (90) Strong forwards, equal wrist & slap shots
Stiff Flex (100) Defense & strong forwards, good slap shots
Pro Stiff Flex (110) Strongest players, very hard shot
*When in doubt, go with the more flexible shaft. Most players make the mistake of using too stiff a shaft, which is beyond their strength and capability to maximize performance. The flex and subsequent kick in the shaft is what gives the enhanced performance in composite materials.
Blade Type
MC Traditional, best all around
HCR, HCS, SC Raise the puck quickly with snap and slap shots
CC, TC, IC Used for fast rising shots. Also provides ability to more accurately direct wrist shots
